It’s ten times Evernote’s 50, on three devices instead of one, and with unlimited tags where Evernote’s free plan stops at 20. Every feature is included — collaboration, sharing, history, OCR search, import, and the API. The two that cost us money per use have a daily cap on Free rather than a paywall: 1 AI action a day, and 20 images scanned for their text a day. Notes you’ve moved to the Trash don’t count toward the 500.

You can’t create new notes (or upload new attachments) until you delete some or upgrade. Nothing you already have is locked, hidden, or deleted. The device limit works differently: signing in on a fourth device signs out the oldest one, so you’re never locked out.

Yes — export from Evernote as .enex and import it from Import in the account menu (your avatar, top of the sidebar). Notebooks and tags come along. Notion’s “Markdown & CSV” .zip export imports the same way, and so does a .zip of any folder of Markdown files — which covers Apple Notes (it exports Markdown), an Obsidian vault, a Joplin export, or notes you keep in plain .md yourself. Folders become notebooks.

Not unless you turn them on. AI actions are off for every new account. When you enable them and run an action, the text of that one note is sent to Anthropic’s API for that action and the result comes back. Nothing is sent otherwise. Reading the text inside images you attach is a separate switch, also off by default, and sends the image to AWS Textract instead — two switches, two vendors, both in Settings → AI and scanned text. Accounts created before 24 September 2026 were left with image text on, because their scans were already searchable; it can be switched off there.

No. Your notes are encrypted in transit and stored on our servers so search, OCR, sharing, and optional AI can work. If you need end-to-end encryption, Notesnook and Anytype do that well.

On the phone, yes: the iPhone and Android apps cache your notes on the device, let you read, search and edit them with no connection, and merge the edits when you’re back online. On the web it’s narrower, and we’d rather say so — a note you already have open keeps accepting edits if the connection drops and merges them on reconnect, but the web app itself needs a connection to load, so opening it offline gets you a browser error page. Whichever client you were on, the merge happens the same way whether you were offline for a second or a day.

Yes, on either plan and without asking. Any note exports as Markdown or HTML, and your whole account exports as one .zip with every note in both formats, your attachments, and a manifest of notebooks and tags. Export is never paywalled.

Yes — Mydeas is on the App Store and Google Play. mydeasapp.com/get sends your phone to the right one. The web app also works on a phone and installs to the home screen if you would rather not install anything.

Not yet. Mydeas runs in any browser and installs like an app. A Chrome clipper and native Mac and Windows apps are on the way.

Yes, for every account. Create an API key from the account menu, then use the REST API for notes, notebooks, and tags, or register a webhook to be notified when something is shared with you or commented on. There is an MCP server for Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, but we won’t pretend it’s finished: it runs on your own machine over stdio against that same API key, and it isn’t published to npm yet, so today you build it from the repo.
